Basic Questions
What is Navid Music?
Navid Music is an iOS music player designed for personal music libraries. You can connect to a self-hosted or licensed Navidrome, Subsonic, or Emby server, or create a local music library to bring your music collection into an immersive playback interface.
Does Navid Music provide music content?
No. Navid Music does not host, sell, or license any music content. The app is solely responsible for playing, browsing, and managing the music library you already own or have been granted access to.
Do I need my own server?
If you want to use the Navidrome, Subsonic, or Emby modes, you’ll need to have the corresponding server address and account information ready.
If you only want to play music stored on your device, you can also use the local file mode to create a local music library.
Playback and Operation
What are the four guides on the home screen?
Navid Music provides guidance on several core functions:
- Tap the six tiles to access Artists, Albums, Songs, Playlists, Favorites, or Shuffle.
- Swipe left or right on the song title area to switch to the previous or next track.
- Use the back button or swipe up to return to the home screen.
- Enter keywords in the search bar, then tap a result or press the "Go" key on your keyboard to play it immediately.
What can you search for?
You can search for songs, albums, and artists. Search results can be played directly, or you can go to the corresponding details page.
Does it support DSD / Hi-Res?
It supports related playback paths and display. The system player is used by default for standard formats; DSD or certain formats that cannot be reliably streamed may require server transcoding or, if supported, decoding to PCM by the in-app FFmpeg. When an external DAC is connected, the app will also display the actual output and Hi-Res-related status.
What does the DSD transcoding toggle do?
When DSD transcoding is enabled, DSD tracks will play according to the server’s transcoding settings, which typically results in more stable playback.
When disabled, some Navidrome DSF/DFF tracks will first download the original file and then play it using local decoding. The actual result depends on the server, file format, and device capabilities.
Lyrics and Playlists
Are lyrics supported?
Yes. Navid Music prioritizes server-provided lyrics but can also use
.lrc lyric files in the same directory. Navid Pro unlocks a custom lyrics API, allowing you to integrate your own deployed lyrics service. Does Navid Music include a built-in public lyrics service?
No. Navid Music does not host public lyrics sources. Lyrics may come from your server, your local
.lrc files, or a lyrics API you configure yourself. You are responsible for verifying all relevant copyright and compliance requirements. What features does the playlist support?
In remote mode, playlist functionality depends on the server you’re connected to. Navid Music supports displaying, adding to, creating, and editing personal and shared playlists. Read-only or smart playlists may not allow manual song additions; in such cases, the app will display the playlist as uneditable and provide a message explaining the reason.
Does local file mode support playlists?
Playlists in local mode are stored only on this device and are not synced to the server. Local mode does not display playlist operations that are specific to remote servers.

Media Library and Connections
Which media libraries are supported?
Currently, Navidrome, Subsonic, Emby, and local file mode are supported. Credentials, connections, caches, and playback history are managed separately for each media library to prevent seeing content from the previous library after switching.
Why are there “Media Libraries” and “Server Connections” in the app?
A media library represents the music source you’re currently using, such as Navidrome, Subsonic, Emby, or local files. A server connection is the primary or alternate address available when connecting to the same remote media library.
Can I switch between multiple servers?
Yes. Navid Music stores connection information, cache, and playback context separately by media library and server type. Navid Pro offers more advanced multi-connection capabilities, such as alternate addresses and mobile network priority connections.
Caching and Offline Playback
Does Navid Music support offline playback?
Yes. You can cache songs, and cached songs can be played offline. Album art and
.lrc lyrics files in the same directory can also be stored locally as a backup for offline browsing and lyrics display. Will caching delete my original music?
No. Clearing the cache only removes the cached files stored by Navid Music within the app’s sandbox; it does not delete the music on your server or the original files in your local music library’s source folder.
What should I do if I see the message “Cannot play while offline”?
This usually means the current song hasn’t been cached yet, and your device is currently unable to connect to your server. You can resume playback once your network connection is restored, or cache the song in advance while you have an internet connection.

What does Navid Pro include?
Navid Pro is a one-time purchase for lifetime use. Once unlocked, you’ll have access to:
- Advanced themes: Pure Black mode, system-wide dark mode, and more app icons.
- Custom Lyrics: Integrate your own lyrics API service.
- Multiple Server Routes: Set up backup addresses and prioritize mobile network routes.
Privacy and Data
Does Navid Music collect my data?
Navid Music does not upload device models, system versions, usage logs, or crash reports to its own servers, nor does it embed ads or third-party analytics SDKs used for user profiling.
Server addresses, credentials, playback preferences, cache settings, and navigation state are primarily stored on your device. During playback and browsing, data is transferred between your device and the media library server or lyrics service you’ve configured.
Where is scrobble data sent?
If the server you’re connected to supports scrobbling, Navid Music may send the track ID and playback progress to your configured server once the playback duration and progress thresholds are met. This data is not sent to Navid Music.
